The answer is always changing!

I believe in always trying to become a better version of myself and helping others in the process. The world becomes better when we use our talents to strengthen each other.

I love hearing the stories of others. Through sharing stories, we grow in empathy and understanding.

I am the kind of person who used COVID Christmas 2020 as an excuse to put Halloween decorations on my tree.

It was AWESOME!

In my spare time

I enjoy a wide range of activities in my spare time. I love keeping fish. There is pleasure from watching the ecosystem that I am responsible for keeping balanced. I have a 10 gallon and a 20 gallon aquarium. I plan on more when our address becomes more permanent again!

I enjoy cross-stitching and sewing. Making a picture appear from tiny little x’s is satisfying. I love watching the picture progress, especially the detail work at the end. Sewing is a fun hobby, but not one I have used much until masks became all the rage in 2020. When it was recommended that we all wear masks, I started turning scrap fabric and bed sheets into face protection.

Reading is a fun way to escape reality. This is extra true right before bed. Reading a story that takes me to a new universe helps me forget my to-do list and other worries. At least until I wake up in the morning.

Helping out the community

I try to be a helpful citizen in the Las Vegas community. Volunteering with my daughter’s scout troop is one way. I try to use my life experiences to help guide the young women in her troop to be empathic members of their community. We participate in service projects throughout the year. I try to make it a habit to pick up trash whenever I can. Every little piece off the ground helps!

Another way I help out my community is by donating blood. It started as a response to the 1 October attack. Since then, I try to donate every few months. My food struggles have made it difficult to keep weight on, so being able to donate blood through Vitalant gives me extra motivation to keep my weight up.

Fun fact: The box truck has a sign that states it was purchased by the Pinball Hall of Fame. – February 2021
